Hi, we're ecobee! We introduced the world's first smart Wi-Fi thermostat and since then, we've helped millions of people transform the way they save money and conserve energy. With each new product, we introduce technology that brings peace of mind to the home, allowing people to focus on the moments that matter most. We're proud of what we've done so far, but we're not about to rest with lots more on the go and big things on the horizon for us in 2021! ecobee is currently looking to recruit First Nations/Metis and Inuit candidates for our customer service positions. The best part about these positions is that you can live anywhere in Ontario. If you live in a reserve community, in a suburb, or in a city and you have a passion for customer service, we want to hear from you!
We look to hire talented people who care deeply about our ever-changing environment and have a passion for helping customers. We take pride in making a meaningful difference to the environment.
What you'll be doing: As a Customer Service Representative you’ll be our first line of support at ecobee and work directly with our customers to solve their issues, inquiries and assistance-requests through phone, email or chat (our ticketing and documentation system is Zendesk and Cisco Finesse). We have a variety of products and services so your work may extend over several areas like smart thermostat, video cameras, smart sensors etc. and services like home monitoring subscriptions. ecobee will provide all the training necessary to make sure you are fully equipped to handle customer inquiries. Customers aren’t the only people you will assist, but also HVAC professionals, distribution partners, OEM partners and utility customers sometimes require our assistance!
Interested candidates must be able to work rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays. Shifts are 5 days a week and 8 hours per day. Our support office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-12:00am, and Saturday-Sunday, 9:00am-9:00pm.
This role will begin entirely remotely with the option to remain a remote employee post pandemic. If you live in Toronto and would prefer the option to eventually come back to work in our office, that option is there for you as well.
How has the pandemic affected hiring and onboarding? Our interview and onboarding process has remained relatively the same, except interviews and on boarding sessions are now conducted through video. New employees will be working remotely, and all necessary equipment will be shipped to them.
ecobee believes all people have equal value and we are committed to providing a safe space for everyone. We welcome all applicants with diverse races, genders, ages, religions, identities, experiences, etc. and we will provide accommodation to all applicants throughout our hiring process.
What We Bring to the Table:
INTERNET SPEED CHECK
As part of your regular work day you will be asked to be on video, share documents on your monitor, collaborate with many colleagues and talk over technology.
We are glad to offer the ability to work remotely, however we must ensure each employee has adequate bandwidth to carry on their various tasks. Generally speaking, standard cable or High Speed Internet is adequate for the work you will be doing. However, other aspects specific to your location may negatively impact the minimum speeds requirements. For instance, if you share a location with other individuals also working remote, people constantly streaming videos or being on Netflix, school-aged children using band-intensive software and the like.
Our minimum requirements are: 6 Mbps (upload/download) with a latency (ping) below 20 ms are the best case scenario. The straightness of the 2 lines demonstrates a connection stability as well. The latency can fluctuates throughout the day / week days. We suggest to test your speed at 4 points during the day/week and you can discuss the results with a recruiter who contacts you. Please follow these guidelines:
Ecobee was founded with the goal of offering people smart home solutions that enable planet positive actions. We’ve made a lot of progress since then, but there’s still more work left to do. We need your help because the more we grow, the greener things get. To date, ecobee thermostats have delivered over 17.6 TWh of energy savings. That’s like taking all the homes in Las Vegas off the grid or 2.7 million cars off the road for a year.
