Job Summary: The Manager, under the direction of Program Director, is responsible for the management of cultural and traditional programs and services, productivity and quality of work, and reporting as required to funders.  The Manager is expected to ensure that all clients and families are receiving the required care; and that all required policies and procedures are being followed in accordance with OLHBI Policy and Procedures. The Manager will provide regular supervision to the cultural team. The Manager will ensure that the development of integrated holistic services is consistent with the strategic direction and values of the community. 

The Manager must be knowledgeable with First Nations culture and practices; historical effects of the 60’s scoop, residential school, and the impacts of MMIWG and boys and their families. The Manager must also be knowledgeable in the areas of familial, parental, and marital problems; suicide; stress management; self-esteem; mental and emotional health.  The Manager must also be able to incorporate funding requirements into programming, set short- and long-term goals, and actively participate in programming, presentations, workshops, meetings, and advocacy.

Job Skills & Qualifications:

  •  Strong knowledge of holistic healing methods; detailed knowledge, practice, and participation in First Nations’ Culture, Ceremonies, practices, traditions, and history.
  • Ability to fluently speak and understand the Cree Language.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or Indian Social Work or equivalent cultural training.
  • 3-5 years Management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist clients, family members and the community, courteously and respectfully with genuine care and concern while upholding and preserving their privacy and confidentiality.
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills; Sound leadership, Staff management, motivational skills.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability; Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in writing work plans, developing budgets, reports, proposals and strategic planning.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural environments.
  • Valid Driver’s License, Driver’s abstract, Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
