POSITION TITLE: Financial Controller

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
|
|
Finance Controller is responsible for leading and administering of the Finance Department including the preparation, administration and monitoring of operating budgets. Ensure that all month-end financial accounting duties and all resulting financial reporting are completed timely and accurately by all business finance staff. The Finance Controller is expected to demonstrate leadership and team work skills on a daily basis including coaching, development, and relationship building with their team and stakeholders.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
|
|
- University Degree in Accounting required or equivalent
- Experience leading a team or demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team
- Minimum ten years working experience in accounting
- Able to improve methods and practices while guiding individuals through change constructively
- Knowledge of IFRS, payroll, Canadian taxation, and control frameworks
- Strong technology skills and ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills that promote mutually beneficial and respectful professional relationships.
- Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail
- Ability to adapt to and learn new software
- Strong Communication skills
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
- Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines

About Onion Lake Cree Nation
The Onion Lake First Nation has educational facilities, a modern health centre, and indoor/outdoor sports facilities. There are both band-owned and privately owned businesses on reserve, providing the community with essential services and employing both residents and non-residents. Currently, 3,722 of the band’s 7,085 members live on the 57,737.5 ha of reserve land, situated 50 km north of Lloydminster. The Onion Lake Reserve straddles the Saskatchewan-Alberta border, making it Canada’s only border Cree Nation.
