DIVISION I TEACHER  -  BIG ISLAND LAKE    (2 POSITIONS)

Chief Napew Memorial School (CNMS) is a K-12 school situated along the beautiful Meadow Lake Provincial Park located in the north western part of Saskatchewan.  CNMS is a school that promotes land-based education and the Cree language.  It is a school that believes in family, unity and positive relations. 

Chief Napew Memorial School invites application for a DIVISION I Teacher - 2 positions.

We believe in fostering the whole being where all learn to excel in a safe positive respectful environment. Our teachers are caring, compassionate, and committed to our students.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Focus on improving instruction and meeting the needs of the learner

·         Nurture, support and guide young learners

·         Prepare engaging lessons and interactive learning activities/materials

·         Conduct formal and informal assessment of students

·         Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning

·         Facilitate learning activities both within the classroom setting and outdoors

·         Participate in co-curricular school activities

·         Promote and maintain high standards of behaviour, respect and safety within the classroom

·         Support families with open, ongoing communication

·         Prepare course timelines and materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts

·         Prepare lesson plans with clear objectives that follow SK curriculum standards

Position Qualifications:

·         Possess or be in application of a valid SK Teaching Certificate

·         Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in education

·         Understands and uses current literacy practices and teaching strategies

·         Models a strong work ethic as well as high standards of commitment

·         Must have an awareness and appreciation of Native culture

·         Fosters school mission, values and sense of community through student-centered decisions

·         Effectively communicates with staff, parents and students

·         Maintains professionalism through all school interactions and activities

·         Values continual growth and development of school programs and curriculum
