
Special Education Teacher LITTLE PINE
Little Pine School is accepting applications for the Special Education Teaching position.
Duties & Responsibilities:• Liaise with other classroom teachers, school psychologists, learning disabilities specialists, speech/hearing specialists, and social workers to provide an integrated plan for developing the capacities of their students.
• Plan and prepare courses and subjects in accordance with policy and curriculum
• Incorporate First Nations curriculum and ways of learning into all programs
• Set learning goals for each student, assess their progress, and record their evaluations.
• Update parents on the progress of their students and enlist parental support with behavior control and home activities designed to supplement their classroom lessons.
• Supervise and train teaching assistants
• Develop academic and social/life skills programming for students Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and other special needs in a flexible and supportive learning environment.
• Teaching a small group of special needs students both inside and outside of the classroom
• Preparation of lesson plans and conducting assessments
• Incorporating social and life skills into daily programming
• Reading and interpreting psycho-educational reports and writing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Experience with Smartboards and adaptive technology for iPads and laptops
• Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with the Education Director, Principal, teachers, and parents of students.
• Participation in staff meetings, supervisory duties, after school extra-curricular activities
• Participate in community programs that link the school to the larger community
• Draft proposals for specialized education
• Other duties as required·
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Education Degree
• A Valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate (STF)
• Special Education Certificate
• An understanding of and experience with, students with Special Needs and Learning Disabilities
• Cultural Competency
• Be well versed in Microsoft Office Applications
• Provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference check
• Fit for Duty Policy in effect
